Joe Burrow’s Injury Update

Last week, Joe Burrow injured his toe, commonly referred to as “grass toe,” and it was initially estimated that he would be sidelined for three months. Many assumed, perhaps naively, that the star quarterback—who’s worth $275 million—might still make it back in time for the Bengals’ last few games.

However, it seems Cincinnati shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet.

On “Fox NFL Sunday,” Jay Glaser shared that there might still be a glimmer of hope if the Bengals make it to the playoffs. He indicated Burrow could potentially lace up again. Yet, it’s complicated; Glazer mentioned that the three-month timeline feels unrealistic. “I think he has a better chance than that,” he said. After all, if they reach the playoffs, Burrow’s competitive nature could drive him to return, although the severity of his injury complicates things.

Burrow, 28, underwent surgery to address a completely torn toe, along with damaged ligaments, as Glazer noted. It’s quite a significant setback.

In the meantime, Jake Browning has stepped up to take over as the Bengals’ starting quarterback.

During the Bengals’ latest game, he led the team to victory over the Jaguars, throwing for 241 yards with two touchdowns, though he also threw three interceptions.

Browning is gearing up for their upcoming match against the Vikings, a crucial week-three game. The pressure’s on, and it’ll be interesting to see how he performs against this new challenge.
