Joe Flacco Considering Steelers Opportunity?
On a recent episode of “The Be More Football Podcast,” Joe Flacco, the 41-year-old quarterback known for his Super Bowl win with the Ravens, spoke about the unique prospect of playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team in the AFC North he hasn’t yet suited up for.
“Honestly, I think putting on a Steelers jersey feels a bit stranger than donning a Browns or Bengals one,” Flacco shared during the podcast. “But hey, I’m open to opportunities that come my way.”
Flacco, who secured a Super Bowl title in 2013 with the Ravens, made a return to the Browns last year after signing a second contract with them. He briefly filled in for rookie Dillon Gabriel in October before being traded to the Bengals after Joe Burrow suffered a toe injury.
Throughout 13 games across both teams, Flacco managed to throw for 2,479 yards, with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
“I play soccer because I love it, but football? That’s my real passion! If someone wants to hire me, it would be a significant opportunity,” he mentioned. Flacco emphasized that personal feelings about any organization shouldn’t interfere with professional choices. “It’s just a bit odd, you know?”
In October, Flacco saw action as the Bengals faced the Steelers, winning that matchup 33-31, but later faced a loss on November 16, going down 34-12.
This past season, the Steelers brought in veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who led them to the Wild Card round of the playoffs, though they ultimately fell to the Texans with a score of 30-6.
As for Rodgers, questions linger about whether he will return to Pittsburgh. Regardless, a shift in leadership is on the horizon with Mike McCarthy stepping in as the new head coach. McCarthy, who previously coached the Cowboys from 2020 to 2024 and won a Super Bowl with Rodgers in Green Bay, takes over for Mike Tomlin, who recently resigned after nearly two decades with the team.
