Potential Coaching Change at Ole Miss
With speculation surrounding Lane Kiffin’s future, former Giants head coach Joe Judge might step in as the interim coach for Ole Miss during the upcoming College Football Playoff.
If Kiffin decides to leave, Judge, who is currently the quarterbacks coach, appears to be the likely choice for the short-term role, according to sources.
Judge previously led the Giants for the 2020-21 season, but his time there was marked by a tough 10-23 record.
Before that stint, he spent eight years with the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick, and after his firing by the Giants, he returned to New England for a while.
He joined Ole Miss as a senior analyst before the 2024 season, where he worked closely with quarterback Jackson Dart, helping him thrive.
In 2025, Judge took on the role of quarterbacks coach for the Rebels, guiding Trinidad Chambliss, a Division II transfer, to become the starting quarterback.
This season, Chambliss, aged 23, has thrown for 2,657 yards and 14 touchdowns over 11 games, contributing to the Rebels’ impressive 10-1 record.
Chambliss has expressed deep appreciation for Judge’s mentorship, referring to him as “like a second father,” highlighting the positive impact Judge has had on both his game and personal growth.
He described Judge as honest and detail-oriented, noting that he’s always preparing the quarterbacks for the unpredictable nature of football. “He’s done a great job of influencing me,” Chambliss said, clearly valuing their relationship.
