Joe Rogan Critiques Pregnant Women’s Tylenol Use
On Friday, Joe Rogan, host of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, called out pregnant women who are using Tylenol, contradicting recommendations from the administration of former President Donald Trump.
This reaction came after findings linking acetaminophen use during pregnancy to autism diagnoses in children were released. On TikTok, many users mocked Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. by taking Tylenol, with Rogan pointing out that the research originated from Harvard. He remarked that the conversation around it was intriguing, noting the irony of people dismissing scholarly findings.
Rogan stated, “I’ve been fascinated by these videos showing pregnant women taking Tylenol, indicating they don’t believe what RFK Jr. is saying. When this science comes from Harvard, it’s perceived as anti-science.” He emphasized that the research they reference is credible, saying, “That’s where the research came from. He doesn’t make things up.” The TikTok videos featured numerous pregnant women engaging in this behavior.
Under the Biden administration, the National Institutes of Health has advised that if pregnant women must take acetaminophen, they should “minimize exposure by using the lowest effective dose in the shortest possible time.”
In many TikTok videos observed recently, users appeared to be consuming recommended doses. One user commented, “As a pregnant woman, I am taking Tylenol because I believe in science and don’t have a medical background.”
Furthermore, the company that produces Tylenol acknowledged the potential link between the drug and neurodevelopmental disorders several years ago.
Rachel Weinstein, a director at Janssen, the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson, shared, “The weight of evidence is beginning to be heavy on me.” Despite Trump and Kennedy’s findings being rejected by mainstream media and health experts, Tylenol manufacturers have seemed to recognize the evidence enough to warrant caution.
On Monday, Trump stated, “It’s not good to take Tylenol, and for this reason, we strongly recommend that women limit Tylenol’s use during pregnancy unless medically necessary.”
