Joe Scarborough on Being Pulled Off Air on Monday: ‘We Were Very Disappointed’

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, co-host Joe Scarborough told viewers that they had been led to believe that all NBC channels would have just one news feed on Monday.

But at the start of the show’s second hour, Scarborough explained that this wasn’t the case.

The longtime MSNBC personality said that if he and his wife and co-host Mika Brzezinski had known, there would have been no unified feed and it would have been “Morning Joe.”

“Willie, before we begin this hour, I want to briefly address some of the events that took place yesterday to our friends and viewers who watch our show every day. It was stated very clearly on Sunday evening that there would be one news feed across all NBC News channels yesterday. The Today Show is hosted by Lester Holt and others that you worked with on Sunday, Willie. There would be one news feed across all NBC News channels and the plan was for us to remain in breaking news mode as a network all day yesterday.”

“It didn’t happen,” Scarborough continued, “I don’t know why it didn’t happen. Our team didn’t get a good answer as to why it didn’t happen, but it didn’t happen. We were also told it would happen all day. And then after the intense backlash yesterday morning, I think they changed their plans and the plans changed, so it didn’t happen. You know, we’ve talked about it off-air, and we’ll talk about it on-air because we talk about anything on-air. We were very surprised and very disappointed.”

“And if we’d known that the news feed from NBC News wasn’t going to be one across all of the NBC News channels, Willie, we obviously would have aired it yesterday morning,” he added.
