MSNBC host Joe Scarborough was shocked to learn how much inflation is affecting butter prices in the United States, as the network takes issue with Vice President Kamala Harris' election loss.
Scarborough recalled on his talk show “Morning Joe” when he told Harris voters that Donald Trump would win the presidency simply because they couldn't get groceries.
“A few weeks ago…someone who was going to vote for Kamala Harris came up to me and said, 'Oh my God, Trump is going to win.'…I went to the grocery store and said, [and] Butter was over $3,'' Scarborough recalled.
The moderator said that he laughed because he thought to himself that the person's argument was a kind of “reductive” one.
“What, is it bordered in gold?”
Scarborough's wife and co-host Mika Brzezinski then interrupted her to tell her that the butter she was buying was actually more than twice that price.
“Seven dollars. …I just want to say seven,” she said as they talked some to each other.
“What is that?” Scarborough asked.
Scarborough finally understood what he had heard and stood still, looking shocked.
“Seven dollars for butter?!” he asked.
“Yeah,” Brzezinski responded calmly.
“What, it's bordered in gold?” Mr. Scarborough said as the committee laughed.
“Well, it depends where you're going,” my wife repeated.
as segment Additionally, either MSNBC and its hosts are slowly realizing that Americans are fed up with the high cost of living, or are finally deciding to discuss the realities of the average consumer now that the election is over. It became clear that it was one of two things.
Some of those networks' revelations included an NBC News exit poll showing how much worse Americans thought their finances would be in 2024 compared to previous election years.
As for 2024, 46% of those surveyed feel financially worse off than in 2020. In 2020, that number was just 20%.
When asked the same question in 2016, 27% said their living situation had worsened, and 33% said the same in 2012.
This was followed by another exit poll showing how Americans are suffering as a result of inflation.
Respondents were asked how inflation affected them and their families.
Three-quarters of Americans say they have suffered moderate (53%) or severe hardship (22%) due to inflation costs, but only a quarter say they have experienced no hardship at all. It was less than 1 (24%).
Scarborough went on to say that looking at the current cost of groceries and gasoline compared to 2020, voting for Trump must have been a no-brainer for the majority of Americans.
