John Fogerty Supports Bruce Springsteen’s Anti-Trump Stance
John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival expressed his admiration for Bruce Springsteen in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, highlighting Springsteen’s readiness to oppose former President Donald Trump.
Fogerty noted, “I’m really proud that Bruce is sticking to his values and isn’t afraid to voice them.” This seems to resonate with a lot of fans—people appreciate when artists take a stand.
Springsteen has been critical of Trump’s presidency for nearly a decade. During his latest world tour, he included brief speeches criticizing the former President, urging his audience to recognize Trump’s potential threat to society. At a show in Manchester in May, he declared, “In my beloved America, a place that has stood as a symbol of hope for 250 years, we now find ourselves under a corrupt and incompetent administration.”
He added, “Tonight, we must stand together in defense of democracy and our American heritage.” It’s a bold move, and while some may not agree, his supporters surely appreciate his passion.
Notably, Trump responded to Springsteen’s remarks shortly after, labeling him “highly overrated,” which adds an interesting dynamic to the ongoing public discourse.
A few days later, Trump made a post on his social media, saying, “The highly overrated Bruce Springsteen goes abroad to disparage the US president. I never liked his music or his radical left politics. And he’s simply not talented.” This might provoke a range of reactions, considering how polarizing both figures are.
Springsteen also revealed last year that he intends to support Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 elections. Fogerty, while discussing with Rolling Stone, suggested that Trump’s public feuds with figures like Springsteen might not be the best strategy. He recalled how President Richard Nixon chose not to engage publicly with critics, perhaps hinting at a need for a more measured approach.
The White House has yet to respond to requests for comments on this ongoing narrative.
