Comedian Jon Stewart questioned how Democrats “walk a tightrope” when agreeing with the other side on certain issues, and said on Friday's show that when agreeing with RFK Jr. on certain issues, it's a gag. He said that a reflex occurs.

“How do you walk that tightrope? Because you have a gag reflex for Robert Kennedy and say ultra-processed foods are killing Americans. And I think there's that on both sides. And I think, “Yes.” It's terrible, and it has to change,” Stewart said in an interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders, R-Vt.

Mr. Stewart told Mr. Sanders:Weekly program In it, progressive senators said they were willing to work with Republicans if they said “something appropriate and appropriate.”

“But if you say that, come on, aren't you just a monkey? How can you agree with Robert Kennedy Jr. about anything? He's this and that. Elon Musk says there is waste and inefficiency in government, but we say, “Yes, we've been shouting about that for years,'' and then they immediately say, “How could that be?'' “Can you do it?” That's really interesting. ”

RFK JR. Debate erupts over calls to remove fluoride from drinking water

Sanders said he is holding public hearings on food labels.

“Do you know what I'm holding a hearing about tomorrow? In fact, to find out why the FDA chief didn't at least move forward with stronger labels to warn the American public about the nature of the food.” Eating leads to obesity, which leads to diabetes. We were completely irresponsible,” Sanders said. “Kennedy is right on that issue.”

Sanders said he disagrees with RFK Jr.'s proposal to remove fluoride from drinking water.

“So how do we walk that line? Well, that's exactly what we're trying to figure out right now,” Sanders said.

“Look, the system we're operating right now, Senator, is that there are food companies, and their scientists are designing foods to overcome the chemicals in your brain that tell you to stop eating, to overcome your defenses. And then the pharmaceutical companies come and say, “This is Ozempic, this is Munjaro.'' And now we're stuck in a banana cycle where these companies are only profiting. Our health status is incredibly poor,” Stewart said.

Mr Sanders told Mr Stewart that he had heard from scientists that the foods advertised on television were “addictive”.

“Has the government taken any action with the urgency that is needed? Of course not. So Kennedy is right on this issue, but your point is, how do we respond to that? And on top of that, the crazy things he's saying are exactly what I'm trying to get across,'' Sanders said.
