On Monday, Jon Stewart, the left-handed comedian, did a double take when he noticed a man who strikingly resembled President Trump. He humorously dubbed the individual “Backup Trump.”
During an episode of ‘The Daily Show,’ Stewart zeroed in on the presidential lookalike after a clip surfaced showing Trump addressing reporters at Joint Base Andrews post-World Cup in New Jersey.
The footage featured a man, around Trump’s age, with a similar physique and walking style, dressed in a navy suit and blue tie, lingering near Air Force One while Trump spoke to the media. This unexpected sight threw Stewart off.
“What’s going on with the man behind Trump? Can we see that again? Can you clarify?” Stewart asked after the segment aired.
“Who is this guy?” he exclaimed. “What the heck! Is that a backup for Trump?”
Stewart further joked about the mysterious figure possibly serving as a shadow for Trump. “Wait, what? Is that a reserve or is it really Trump?” he pondered aloud. “Are we talking about Mr. Trump’s backup or the actual Mr. Trump?”
Interestingly, the individual in question seems to be Viktor Knahus, Trump’s father-in-law, who was present at the World Cup finals along with the president and First Lady Melania Trump.
Knahus, who is two years older than Trump and has quite a bit of gray hair, appears shorter than the president. Still, the camera angles used by Stewart made them look surprisingly alike.
This isn’t the first time theories involving shadowy figures related to Trump’s presidency have emerged. During his initial term, numerous baseless claims circulated that Melania had hired a stand-in.
The “#FakeMelania” allegations even drew a furious response from Trump himself. In a post on X in March 2019, he stated, “Fake News Photoshopped photos of First Lady Melania Trump to spread conspiracy theories that it’s not actually her with me in Alabama and elsewhere.”
“They just become crazier as time goes on!” he expressed in frustration.
