Jon Stewart supports Tucker Carlson on Iran: ‘You go, brother’

Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson have often found themselves on opposite sides of the ideological spectrum throughout their careers. However, they recently shared a surprising consensus regarding the U.S.’s involvement in the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.

“It’s a very strange world,” Stewart remarked this past Thursday. “I actually found myself nodding along to Tucker Carlson’s video.”

The host of “The Daily Show” kicked off the podcast by referring to an interview Carlson had with Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) earlier this week, where Cruz was advocating for a change in the Iranian government.

“You’re a senator calling for the overthrow of a government, and yet you know so little about the country,” Carlson challenged, expressing frustration over Cruz’s lack of understanding regarding the Iranian populace. Cruz responded with some snark in return.

Throughout their lengthy discussion, they exchanged various thoughts, particularly around Iran’s actions and Cruz’s backing of Israel.

Stewart, during the introduction to his “Weekly Show,” invited CNN’s Christian Amanpour and former Obama advisor Ben Rhodes to weigh in on the conflict.

“You’re Tucker Carlson going on about ‘Why are we fighting Iran again?'” Stewart joked, “Tucker, you said it, buddy. That’s how we ended up here.”

Carlson, known for his isolationist views, typically doesn’t see eye to eye with Stewart on foreign policy matters. The two even clashed back in February after Carlson interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Following that, Carlson shot back at Stewart, calling him “the most ominous form of supporting the administration.”

More recently, the former Fox host has spoken candidly about his discontent with President Trump’s approach to Middle Eastern issues. In turn, Trump has critiqued Carlson, labeling him “strange” and questioning his viewpoints.
