Jon Stewart Unpacks the Absurdity of Trump’s Cabinet Meetings: ‘It’s Absolutely Bizarre!’

Jon Stewart on Trump's cabinet meetings: 'It’s just so f---ing weird'

Comedian Jon Stewart emphasized the peculiarity of President Trump’s Cabinet gatherings, referring to them as “F-ing strange.”

Stewart, who is the host of “The Daily Show,” focused on the cabinet meeting during last Monday’s episode. He labeled Sheen an authoritarian for his flattering remarks about the president following a chaotic week concerning his tariff strategies.

He included a clip where Interior Secretary Doug Burgham expressed gratitude to President Trump for his guidance, while SME manager Kelly Loeffler lauded the president for “confronting the Chinese Communist Party,” celebrating Trump’s “vision,” border management, and election results.

“When I observe those cabinet meetings, I’m genuinely questioning if they are serious. It’s outrageous,” Stewart remarked on his show.

“It’s incredibly odd,” he later stated.

Stewart contends that officials in the Trump administration are veering toward an authoritarian state, commencing with admiration from his closest supporters.

“The foundation of an authoritarian regime is the disruption of the usual processes of comprehending the world—how data and personal experiences create a coherent and realistic portrayal of reality,” he explained. “The hallmark of an authoritarian regime is that individuals must test the boundaries of their reality by suspending rational thought and embracing absurdity.”

Admiration for Trump surfaced amidst changes in the market as he revealed and halted tariff plans.

On April 2, which Trump referred to as “liberation day,” he announced a 10% baseline tariff on imports, modifying additional tariffs on US trading partners. He subsequently suspended most mutual tariffs due to global apprehensions, reducing nearly all tariffs to 10% for 90 days as his administration sought to address trade with various countries.

He continued to raise tariffs on China, and after the announcement of mutual tariffs, he imposed reciprocal tariffs on the US, resulting in over 100% tariffs on the country. In retaliation to Trump’s actions, both nations applied 125% tariffs on each other.

This added rate compounds the existing 20% tariffs that Trump had previously enacted on China. Consequently, imports from China into the US now encounter a tariff rate of at least 145%.

This scenario has triggered market volatility both domestically and globally, raising concerns.

Oka reached out to the White House for a response.
