The NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association has sent a damning letter condemning the anti-police and crime mitigation policies of New York City’s far-left Democratic leaders and telling them to stay away from the funeral of slain Officer Jonathan Diller.
The 31-year-old father died Monday after being shot in the stomach by a violent ex-convict with 21 prior arrests as police approached his car with the suspect in the passenger seat.
“Many elected officials will be attending PO Dealer’s funeral, shedding crocodile tears and sitting prominently for good photo opportunities,” said SBA President Vincent Vallelonge. This was stated in a letter to union members. “The sad reality is we don’t want them there.”

Mr Vallelong said he wanted to stop city politicians who have supported campaigns to “defund” the police and release criminals from prison from posting politically motivated condolences on social media. He said he found it upsetting to watch.
They are just as morally responsible for the PO dealer’s death as the career criminal who pulled the trigger.
“Their presence is more than just a distraction,” Vallelong continued. “This is a stain on the legacy of true heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, and on the many dedicated and dedicated public servants who carried out their mission despite constant criticism, ridicule, negativity, and frivolous accusations.” It is.”

In an interview with new york postunion leaders went a step further and called out City Council President Adrian Adams and Councilman Jumaane Williams by name.
“They hate police officers and have no appreciation for what they do,” he told the paper. “They shouldn’t stay home and pretend to be sad.”

When Williams wrote to X earlier this week about Diller’s death, many of the responses included harsh criticism.
“I like how this post doesn’t mention the need to remove criminals from the streets,” said one user.

Williams, a former City Council member who was elected as the city’s public advocate in 2019, has previously described himself as a democratic socialist and said in 2020 that the NYPD’s $1 billion budget cuts would “result” in police cuts. He argued that it was not enough to “cut the budget.”
In January, Adams helped override Mayor Eric Adams’ veto of a bill that would have required increased paperwork for police officers when they come into contact with members of the public.

“Despite advice to the contrary, the City Council’s ‘leadership’ has failed city residents, workers and visitors at every turn,” Vallerong wrote. “They are blinded by their own hatred and distorted ideology.”

Mr. Vallelong’s letter also blamed “a number of prosecutors” for “the complete destruction of New York’s civilized society,” without naming names.
“They would rather see the city burn and countless lives lost than right the legislative wrongs and at least give the city a chance at survival or revival,” he wrote.

Guy Rivera, a 34-year-old man with 21 prior arrests, nine of them felonies, allegedly shot and killed Diller during a stop in Far Rockaway on Monday night.
Other officers responded, but Rivera remained in police custody Thursday morning at the hospital, the Queens prosecutor’s office said.

According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the friend, Lindy Jones, 41, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, was convicted of attempted murder in 2002 and served time in prison, and has had a felony firearms case pending since last year. Despite this, he somehow ended up on the street.

“Council members who are vehemently and inexplicably opposed to public safety are responsible for the street carnage and heartbreak caused by PO Diller’s completely avoidable death.” wrote Vallelong. “The members of the council who declared war on the police should be put under the microscope and investigated by an outside agency for any legislative errors or blunders they committed.”
