Former Marvel star Jonathan Majors was accused by his ex-girlfriend, dancer Grace Jabari, of being a ruthless abuser on Monday. That’s because he spared her a prison sentence after being found guilty of assaulting her in a car in Manhattan last year.
“He’s not remorseful. He doesn’t accept responsibility. He’ll do it again,” Jabari, wearing a pink suit, became emotional during his sentencing hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.
“He’s going to hurt other women,” Jabari continued, tearing up midway through her speech. “This is a man who believes he is above the law.”
Majors, 34, wearing a black double-breasted suit and black turtleneck, was sentenced to undergo domestic violence counseling.
While Jabari spoke, he sat looking straight ahead. His new girlfriend, actress and model Meagan Good, watched his sentencing from the front row of the courtroom bleachers.
Jabari, 30, who played supervillain Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia, was found guilty by a Manhattan jury of misdemeanor charges after testifying that he lived in fear. The acquittal was handed down after he was found guilty of assault. Their traumatic two-year relationship, which ended in violent outbursts on his part, ended earlier this year when he struck her in the head with a “strong blow”.
Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Disney, withdrew the major within hours of the ruling. The movie studio had planned for Majors to star as Kang the Conqueror in at least two upcoming films: 2026’s Avengers: Dynasty of Kang and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
Majors had been sentenced to up to a year in prison for the misdemeanor charge, but he maintains his innocence and plans to appeal the sentence.
He declined to speak in court Monday, and his lawyer cited a civil lawsuit Jabari has pending against him, as part of which a former defendant is using his words against him. He argued that it was possible.
