Jorginho James, former pro soccer player, accused of assaulting his estranged wife at Texas daycare

Former professional soccer player Jorginho James, who played for MLS' Houston Dynamo and USL's RGV Toros, has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his estranged wife at her daycare center.

James, of Pearland, Texas, was charged with assault on a family member resulting in bodily injury and violating bail conditions on Aug. 30, the Houston Chronicle reported, citing court records. Officials said he is accused of choking a woman in a separate incident in March.

The woman spoke FOX 26 Houston A video showing the incident went viral on social media.

“As soon as I parked, he jumped in my back seat,” she told the station. “I got out of the car, went into my daughters' daycare and called 911. While I was still on the phone with my daughters, he started hitting me.”

“He hit me eight times. If I hadn't gone down, I don't think he would have stopped. He was already preparing for the ninth.”

James told FOX 26 Houston that “now is not the right time to explain anything.” His attorney declined to comment on the incident. Chronicle.

James, who is originally from Jamaica, has spent most of his playing time with the Dynamo's affiliate team, the Toros, and has reportedly appeared in one game for the Dynamo.
