Josh Allen urges everyone to 'stop disliking' the alternate Bills jerseys

Josh Allen has expressed his frustration over the negative buzz surrounding New Jersey, calling for fans to “stop hating” on Buffalo’s newly introduced “Nickel City” jerseys during a recent press conference.

This statement came just 48 hours after the Bills unveiled their all-gray jersey and pants ensemble, which garnered a flood of criticism on social media.

Allen, the Bills’ quarterback, shared his enthusiasm about the new design, stating that he looks forward to showcasing it in actual games.

“I’m having fun. I think this is a great representation of what we aspire to be,” he noted following the team’s first training camp practice. “We know fans cling to the old jerseys, the legacy, but at some point, we have to evolve. We’re moving forward.”

The “Nickel City” jersey is set to debut twice in the upcoming 2027 season, though the exact game dates haven’t been confirmed yet.

This design is significant as it marks the first occasion Buffalo will sport gray as its principal color.

Previously, the Bills incorporated a silvery gray in their inaugural jerseys from the 1960 season and their “cold front” jerseys launched in 2025.

The design intent allows the Bills to enhance their color scheme for 2026, even with the NFL’s regulations that mandate the use of current colors in alternate uniform designs.

“While we’re sticking to our branding, we’re drawing inspiration from local historical elements like ironworks and grain elevators,” the Bills noted in their social media announcement.

The helmets feature a blue base with a red logo, colours that align with the team’s established palette.

As Allen remarked, regardless of public opinion on the uniforms, they indicate a transformative phase for Buffalo, especially with the upcoming launch of a new Highmark Stadium and the hiring of head coach Joe Brady in 2026.

“There’s a new atmosphere and energy here,” he reflected. “I’m not saying it’s superior or inferior, just that it’s different. And with a new coach, I think it’s sensible to shake things up.”

“We can’t keep doing what we’ve done. We need to change the vibe and explore fresh approaches.”
