Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson react to Knicks’ Mikal Bridges trade

Mikal Bridges reacted like everyone in the capital region to the news that he was heading across the Brooklyn Bridge to join the Nets’ arch rivals, the Knicks.

“This is crazy (laughs).” The Knicks’ new star wrote on X The news broke Tuesday night, just minutes after it was revealed that Bridges had been traded to the Manatee Knights for a huge transfer fee.

The blockbuster trade saw Bridges sent to the Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via the Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-round pick.

News of the trade spread quickly on social media and reached the cellphones of Bridges’ former Villanova teammates and current Knicks teammates Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson.

“oh my god,” Branson simply wrote on X He found out about the deal.

“Yo, we’re awesome.” Hart wrote excitedly. While posting quotes about the news.

Hart also posted a photo of himself, Brunson, Bridges and fellow Knicks/Nova guard Donte DiVincenzo. Group video chat.

But an excited Hart didn’t stop there, as he made multiple social media posts asking Bridges to “call him,” leading some to speculate he was trying to recruit his former Villanova University teammate to the Nova Knicks.

“YOOOO @mikal_bridges I finally said my line!!!!!” Hart wrote.

And when Heat star Bam Adebayo accused Hart of cheating, Hart fought back.: “Let’s celebrate in peace!”

The move reunites Bridges, Hart, Brunson and DiVincenzo, who all spent two years together at Villanova, and gives the group a chance to replicate the success they shared in college.

Nova Knicks wasn’t the only one excited about the move, as Knicks avid fan and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith couldn’t help but echo the sentiment.

He began the one-minute, two-second video he recorded and posted to X by shouting, “YES!”

“I’m disappointed with this move from the New York Knicks,” Smith said in the video. “He’s young, energetic, experienced, defensively and a great fit with the culture of the New York Knicks, which is all I’m looking for.”

Actor and huge Knicks fan Ben Stiller also commented on X.

“Wow, yes!!,” the Dodgeball star simply wrote.
