New information has surfaced regarding Josh Reynolds, the Jets receiver who was a shooting victim last year. It seems he may have been mistaken for someone else during the incident.
A report from a local news source indicates that Reynolds, at the time a member of the Broncos, was shot by a group in October.
Authorities have arrested seven adults on charges of attempted murder, and a juvenile has also been implicated. However, there’s still an eighth adult who is being sought, according to court documents.
One of those charged, Barr Charlesworth, pleaded guilty to felony assault and received a ten-year prison sentence. He allegedly told police that their goal was to track down a fraudster, mentioning that he would be “raising hell.”
The specifics behind the case of mistaken identity remain unclear. Reynolds was shot twice—once in the back of his head and once in his leg. Tragically, one friend of his was shot in the back, while another suffered from glass injuries.
During the episode, it was reported that four vehicles had pursued Reynolds from a strip club, firing numerous rounds at him, which has been characterized as a “calculated and carefully coordinated assassination attempt.”
Reynolds, now 30, signed a one-year contract with the Jets this past spring — a deal that could be worth as much as $5 million. Although wide receivers typically refrain from discussing filming publicly, Reynolds seemed to open up about it after practice in June, mentioning he had “gotten over it.”
“Yeah, life is precious,” he commented to reporters then. “But the more you have to think about it, the more you just relive it. I’ve moved past it; I’m here in Jersey and ready.”
