Former Washington Post Editor Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro revealed on Friday that a video editor from the Washington Post, Thomas Pham Legros, has admitted to possessing child pornography.
Legros was arrested in June 2025 after federal authorities executed a search warrant at his residence and confiscated his electronic devices. He had been with the Washington Post for 18 years over two separate periods, starting in 2000.
Investigators found a damaged hard drive concealed under a rug in Legros’ basement during the search. A subsequent examination of his laptop unveiled a folder that contained 11 videos depicting adult men engaged in sexual acts with prepubescent children.
The FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force is currently handling the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Caroline Burrell prosecuting the case in Washington, D.C.
After graduating, Legros returned to the Post as a breaking news desk editor. He later became a senior producer for the international, style, and technology team. Notably, in 2018, he and his colleagues were awarded a Pulitzer Prize for reporting that highlighted allegations against former Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, which changed the narrative of the Alabama Senate race in 2017.
