Judge Scott McAfee on Thursday called for a recess after Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis threw a tantrum on the witness stand.
The break forced the judge to admonish prosecutors and highlighted Mr. Willis’ lack of civility during his testimony.
After about an hour of testimony, defense attorneys cross-examining Willis asked prosecutors whether Willis’ boyfriend and fellow Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade had ever visited her “where you laid your head.” Asked.
“When?” Willis answered.
The defense asked: “Did he ever visit where you laid your head?”
Willis then spoke up and claimed that the defense was lying when they said they were defending former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants.
“Let me be clear: You are lying about this,” Willis said, holding up pages of documents. “Now let me tell you which one of us lied,” she said, waving the page around. “No, no, this is the truth. That’s a lie.”
“It will take about five minutes,” the judge interrupted. “I’ll be back in five minutes.”

Wade testified Thursday that his relationship with Willis began in 2022 after Willis filed a lawsuit against Trump in 2021. However, Robin Yearty, a former Fulton County district attorney and friend of Willis’s since college, contradicts this, saying there is no doubt that he has been in a relationship with Nathan Wade since 2019. The judge said during Monday’s hearing that Willis’ disqualification from the case was a “possibility.”
