georgia judge was denied Rudy Giuliani on Friday called for an extension of deadlines in election interference cases.
Mr. Giuliani asked that Monday's deadline for filing motions be extended because of the tremendous burden of discovery.
Judge Scott McAfee ruled that the former New York City mayor “has no clear understanding of exactly what findings still need to be considered and why they have not been completed nearly four months after the arraignment.” It has not been stated.”
Trump's former lawyer was indicted as part of a broader extortion case against the former president and his allies over attempts to overturn the state's 2020 election results. Prosecutors allege that Mr. Giuliani knowingly lied to state lawmakers as part of a scheme to spoof the election.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mr. Giuliani sent another request to Mr. McAfee on Thursday, asking that a judge schedule a hearing on his request to drop the charges. His motion for dismissal was filed in September.
The motion describes the 98-page indictment against Giuliani and the other defendants as “a conspiratorial bouillabaisse of purported criminal acts, everyday activities, and constitutionally protected speech.”
Four of the 19 defendants, including three of Trump's lawyers, admitted to committing crimes to avoid trial. A trial date has not yet been set for the case, but prosecutors have requested that the trial begin in August.
