Judge faces ethics violation for hot tub photo

A Las Vegas judge has been accused of ethics violations over two social media posts, including one in which he posed with a public defender in a hot tub.

Clark County District Court Judge Erica Ballou faces ethics charges after the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission filed a formal statement against her.

Two of the charges referenced her social media posts, with the first appearing to state that defendants who are not in custody should not be charged. 8 Current news report.

The Nevada State Board captioned a 2021 selfie posted on Instagram with the caption, “Despite Billie Eilish starting less than 30 minutes ago and my calendar saying tomorrow is 8:30, life is still going on.” “Beautiful,” she posted with the caption.

It had the hashtags “Repeat the detention case” and “Where the hell is Carmen Sandiego?”

The committee also took issue with Facebook posts from 2022.

The ethics complaint reportedly states, “Judge Ballou posted on Facebook a photo of himself in the bathtub with two public defenders, Shanna Browers and Robson Hauser, saying, ‘Mr. Robson is amazing. “I’m surrounded by tits,” he posted with the caption.

A representative for Clark County District Court said Mr. Vallow would “waive the opportunity” to comment, but the judge said: Additional posts on Facebook following accusations of ethics violations.

Before being sworn in as a judge in January 2021, Ballou was reportedly a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

In 2016, Barrow served as a public defender. refused to delete Black Lives Matter pins despite judge’s order.
