Judge Lina Hidalgo loses rodeo position after being removed from NRG event

Texas County Judge Excluded from Rodeo Venue Again

The Harris County Judge, Lina Hidalgo, faced another ejection from a popular Houston rodeo venue on Thursday. This comes after a similar incident earlier in the week when she was removed from a concert for attempting to access VIP seating without a ticket.

During a brief press conference outside NRG Stadium, Hidalgo sought security footage of the earlier incident. However, she was asked to leave the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo venue once again, as law enforcement escorted her to her car, according to reports.

On Tuesday night, Hidalgo attempted to access premium seating at a Megan Moloney concert, once more without tickets. Following this, the Rodeo Houston Executive Committee revoked her “ex-officio director” status, making it clear she would need to purchase general tickets like everyone else.

This decision came after Hidalgo shared video clips and a letter addressing rodeo officials, alleging she was manhandled and threatened with arrest when trying to enter the concert’s main area. Staff reportedly informed her that wristbands were sold out, prompting several requests for her to return to the seating area before ultimately being escorted out.

Officials from the rodeo denied her claims of mistreatment.

In a letter to board officials, Hidalgo implied that her treatment stemmed from her identity as a Hispanic woman. She claimed that some individuals feel empowered to use force against others in these situations.

“I will never travel without a passport again,” she mentioned, reflecting on her experiences, “Many of us do, especially those who don’t pass for white.”

In response, Rodeo officials expressed disappointment in Hidalgo’s actions, denying any discriminatory treatment and emphasizing the need to enforce uniform access policies for everyone.

Additionally, it was reported that Hidalgo had requested $9,000 worth of floor tickets for a J. Balvin concert, which was intended for her and her guests.

After the recent events, Hidalgo has called for more surveillance cameras to be placed in the NRG Stadium, expressing concern over visibility during performances.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Hidalgo for further comments. It’s worth noting that as a county judge, Hidalgo oversees a budget exceeding $4 billion and functions as the chief executive of Harris County’s governing body.
