New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Machan on Tuesday fined former President Donald Trump and could serve up to 30 days in jail for allegedly violating a gag order.
Trump said in April that it was a “great honor” to be a “modern-day Nelson Mandela” in a “clink” for telling the truth about Marchan.
Marchan is scheduled to hold a hearing on Tuesday to determine whether Trump violated what he described as an “unconstitutional” gag order.
The gag order prevents President Trump from commenting publicly about witnesses who participated in the trial, attorneys other than Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), and “court and district attorney employees, or … families of attorneys and employees.” It is prohibited to do so. Members, if these statements were made with the intent to materially interfere with the work of … lawyers or staff regarding the case. This includes potential jurors.
Trump could be fined If Machan rules in favor of prosecutors, he will go to prison, Reuters reported.
Mr. Marchan could choose to fine Mr. Trump $1,000 for each of these violations, as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has requested.

The law allows a judge to send Trump to prison for up to 30 days, a dramatic development for the former US president’s first criminal trial. President Trump has argued that the partial gag order, which prohibits public criticism of witnesses, court officials and their relatives, is a violation of free speech.
“The gag order must be lifted,” President Trump told reporters last week. “People are allowed to talk about me, but I have a gag order in place to show you how unfair that is.”
“They took away my constitutional right to speak,” he said.
“They can say whatever they want,” Trump said of his political opponents. “They can keep making up lies and everything else. They lie. They’re real scum. But you know, I’m not allowed to talk.”
“So why am I being gagged for telling the truth?” Trump asked. “I’m just telling the truth. They’re not telling the truth. The judge must lift this gag order. It’s so unfair that my constitutional rights are taken away.” is.”
