On Monday, former President Donald Trump expressed satisfaction, as a judge permitted his legal team to adapt his $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times.

Trump remarked, “After 10 years of harassment, slander, and defamation, the bankrupt New York Times has failed once again in its efforts to dismiss this powerful defamation lawsuit.” He shared this on his social media platform, stating that the judge has asked for a detailed update on how the Times purportedly acted with malice in defaming him, his family, the MAGA movement, and the United States as a whole.

He also mentioned, “We’ll keep holding the Times and its mainstream media allies responsible for spreading fake news. Thanks for addressing this issue!”

Trump Aims to Include More Allegations in His Lawsuit

Recently, Trump announced plans to possibly add claims about the Times’ coverage of the Iran war to his lawsuit. His lawyers have a deadline of August 27 to revise the complaint, as stated in a filing with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tampa, Florida.

The New York Times has not yet issued a response to requests for comment regarding this update.

The lawsuit asserts a long history of defamation, encompassing coverage of “The Apprentice” and claims about alleged tax irregularities.

The defendants include the New York Times Company as well as several reporters, along with Penguin Random House, which published a book critical of Trump.
