Santa Fe-based Judge Mary Marlow Sommer set aside two hours for Gutierrez-Reed’s sentencing hearing on the morning of April 15. Marlow Sommer is also tasked with overseeing Baldwin’s trial.

Defense attorney Jason Bowles indicated last week that Gutierrez-Reed plans to appeal the conviction.
Baldwin was pointing a gun at cinematographer Halina Hutchins when the revolver went off, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. Baldwin claimed the gun’s hammer was pulled, but he did not pull the trigger.
During the two-week trial, prosecutors accused Gutierrez-Reed of unknowingly bringing live ammunition onto the set of “The Last,” which was explicitly prohibited. She also said she failed to follow basic gun safety regulations.
