Julius Randle watches RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley’s Raptors debut

RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley may no longer be Julius Randle's teammates, but that hasn't stopped the Knicks stars from supporting them.

Randle posted a video to his Instagram Story on Monday night watching Barrett and Quickley's debut with the Raptors following Saturday's trade.

The Knicks traded these two young players and a 2024 second-round pick to the Raptors for forward OG Anunoby, forward Precious Achiuwa and guard Malachi Flynn.

With an afternoon tipoff to the Knicks, Randle was free to watch his former teammates play in the evening.

In the short video, the Knicks star can be heard saying, “Yes, that's right,” and “I'm solid,” as two of Toronto's new members appeared on screen during the broadcast.

He captioned the video, “Let's go, lil bros.”

The Raptors won the game 124-121. Barrett had 19 points, nine rebounds and also made the game-clinching free throw.

Quickley added 14 points and six rebounds.

Barrett, a Canadian, received a warm welcome from Raptors fans Monday during pregame introductions.

A loud cheer could be heard from the fans inside Scotiabank Arena.

Barrett appeared before the media in Toronto for the first time on Monday ahead of his debut and gleefully talked about the chance to return to his hometown to play for the team he grew up rooting for.

“I'm really happy and really excited to be here,” Barrett said. “I'm grateful, I'm blessed. There's so much I want to say, but to sum it up, I'm thankful to God for giving me this opportunity. I don't want to be traded or moved somewhere else. It feels great to be here and go home.”

Barrett and Quickley weren't the only players making their debut with their new team.

Anunoby also made his debut with the Knicks on New Year's Day.

He had 17 points and six rebounds in New York's win over the Timberwolves.

“It was so cool. It felt amazing,” Anunoby told MSG Network of the first time he put on a Knicks uniform.
