Jury finds Trump guilty on 34 counts; first president convicted of felony: Live updates

A jury found former President Trump guilty on all 34 counts involving falsifying business records, making him the first former president to be convicted of a felony.

Jurors reached their verdict in the late afternoon after less than 12 hours of deliberations in the hush money criminal case.

The 12 New Yorkers who make up Trump’s jury were unanimous in their decision on his fate, eliminating the possibility of a disagreement on the verdict.

Trump is facing 34 charges of falsifying business records in connection with former operative Michael Cohen’s payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election to keep secret until after the vote an alleged affair he had with Trump a decade earlier. Trump has denied the affair and has pleaded not guilty.

President Trump on Thursday maintained he is a “totally innocent man” after the verdict in the hush money trial and vowed to “keep fighting.”

“This has been a fraudulent and dishonorable trial. The real verdict will be given by the American people on November 5th. They know what happened here, everyone knows what happened here,” Trump said outside the courtroom shortly after the verdict was read.

Trump’s fundraising page was taken down immediately after his conviction.
