Jussie Smollett Accuses Chicago Police and Rahm Emanuel for His Fake MAGA Hate Crime

Jussie Smollett’s Claims Ahead of TV Comeback

As Jussie Smollett prepares for his return to television, he is once again voicing his opinions on Chicago and its police force, insisting that his accusations of hate crimes in 2019 were not fabricated.

Six years after facing significant backlash, Smollett is gearing up for a new role in the upcoming competition series, Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test.

Just before this show premieres, Smollett still finds himself under scrutiny regarding the alleged hoax. He maintains his innocence, despite the evidence against him from that time.

“The true villains were the two men who attacked me, the Chicago Police Department, and if I were to be brave, I’d say the former mayor, Rahm Emanuel,” Smollett asserted.

Accusing Emanuel of attempting to hide police footage related to another incident, Smollett lamented, “We live in a world where their main mission is to distract us while they carry out their wrongdoing.”

Smollett insists he has consistently told the same story about what happened on that chilly Chicago night. “Everyone else’s accounts have changed. Mine has never wavered. I stand to gain nothing from this,” he claimed.

When asked why no clear evidence has surfaced, he admitted, “Honestly, I really don’t know. I’m not an investigative journalist or a detective. I can only recount what I experienced.”

In early 2019, the Empire star reported a hate crime incident in downtown Chicago where he claimed two men assaulted him and used homophobic language. Initially, the media backed his account, but inconsistencies soon emerged.

As pressure mounted, Smollett faced accusations of filing a false police report. While the Chicago prosecutor eventually dropped the charges, this decision sparked outrage from both the police department and Emanuel. Subsequently, a special prosecutor was assigned to review the handling of the case.

In 2022, Smollett received a 150-day sentence after being found guilty of five felony counts of disorderly conduct for the false report. He was also hit with a $130,000 lawsuit from the city to cover investigation costs. Smollett later settled by agreeing to donate $60,000 to two local charities. Following this, the Illinois Supreme Court overlooked his felony convictions.

Smollett contended that despite rigorous and costly efforts to penalize him, he remains innocent in God’s eyes and in the justice system. “I’ll continue to create my art, fight for my causes, and defend my integrity,” he declared.

However, it’s noteworthy that the state Supreme Court did not explicitly declare him innocent. They voided his conviction based on the Fifth Amendment due to the previous dismissal of charges by Kim Fox.

Special Prosecutor Dan Webb clarified that the court’s ruling did not pertain to Smollett’s innocence. “The Illinois Supreme Court discovered no mistakes in the substantial evidence presented during the trial. A unanimous jury found that Smollett committed five counts of felony disorderly conduct,” he stated.
