Just 35% of Americans say Trump acted illegally in NYC ‘hush money’ case: poll

Exactly half of Americans, including 15% of Republicans and 47% of independents, say they do not think Trump would be fit to be president if he is convicted in the hush money scandal.

The Manhattan trial also takes up time for President Trump to go on the campaign trail ahead of what is likely to be a close race against President Biden.

“I would be campaigning in many other states right now, like Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia,” Trump said during a court appearance Tuesday.

“This is all coming from the Biden White House because he can’t put two sentences together.”

The AP-NORC poll was conducted April 4-8 among 1,204 Americans and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
