Justin Fields is getting a fresh start after three dangerous seasons in Chicago.
The Bears, who own the No. 1 pick and rights to Caleb Williams, traded Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week in exchange for a 2025 pick whose value changes based on playing time.
However, the Steelers had already signed nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year deal earlier this week, causing some confusion. According to reports, Pittsburgh plans for Wilson to start and Fields to support him, but the former NFL quarterback insists that is not the case.

Current ESPN analyst Tim Hasselbeck not only predicted Fields would be the starter by Week 10, but said he could even get the job in training camp.
“Justin Fields is going to be the starter for Pittsburgh by Week 10. I think we’re going to take a real leap of faith in Week 5, but I think it’s going to happen eventually,” he said on Tuesday’s “Get Up.” Ta.
“Alternatively, we could be pretty bold in Week 1, but that might not be out of the realm of possibility.”
Hasselbeck has long been a huge fan of Fields, because despite his 10-28 record as a starter for the Bears, he “never saw anything of him in the National Football League.” Fields couldn’t be considered the greatest talent of all time.

“I think he has Cam Newton-like qualities. Cam Newton was named league MVP primarily because he was an outstanding runner in football, and that’s why he helped me grow as a passer,” Hasselbeck said. “There was a time when Cam was the best goal-line guy in the National Football League. Just from the standpoint of his fit with the talent there and what Arthur Smith wants to do, that might be the best position. “I don’t think it will happen.” With Justin Fields leaving…
“If you’re not winning and you have a very talented young player waiting on the side, there’s going to be pressure to change that position.”

The Bears currently get a 2025 sixth-round pick back in the deal, but if Fields plays 51% of the snaps next season, that will turn into a fourth-round pick.
