The Baltimore Ravens are facing criticism following their announcement about the release of All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker, who is currently facing several allegations of sexual misconduct. Eric DeCosta, the team’s executive vice president and general manager, described the move as a “tough decision.”
DeCosta acknowledged Tucker’s significant contributions to the team, saying, “Justin has created many important and unforgettable moments in the history of the Ravens. His reliability, focus, drive, resilience, and extraordinary talent have made him one of the best kickers in the league for over a decade.” He also extended well-wishes to Tucker and his family as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.
However, the statement’s tone has drawn the ire of some analysts, including ESPN’s Mina Kimes and sports personality Dan Le Batard, the latter labeling it as “Flailing Bulls —.” Their reactions reflect a broader sense of discontent regarding the handling of the situation.
Notably, Tucker is accused by sixteen massage therapists from various spas and wellness centers in Baltimore, with allegations stemming from incidents reported between 2012 and 2016. In response, Tucker has denied any wrongdoing in statements shared on social media and with Outkick.
In an earlier communication from February, he stated, “I have not claimed that I did not act inappropriately at any point before, during or after a professional bodywork treatment session, nor have I been told that I am not welcome by a massage therapy provider. These claims are simply not true.”
