Kadarius Toney blames viral tirade on Giants fans, not Chiefs anger

LAS VEGAS — Kadarius Toney accused Giants fans of so-called “misinformation” that made it seem like there was malicious intent against the Chiefs.

Toney, who hasn’t played for the Chiefs since Dec. 17, appeared to say from his home on the day of the AFC Championship game that a video on social media has gone viral in which he appears to say the Chiefs are covering up his injury to keep him out of action. It became a hot topic. .

The former Giants draft bust claims his thoughts were spliced and the message changed.

“I felt like I was attacking the person I love the most,” Toney told reporters at the 2024 Super Bowl “Opening Night.” “I never attacked the Chiefs. I didn’t say anything about the Chiefs. I was referring to Giants fans, the people who would come to my live recordings. I didn’t mention them. I did, but I shouldn’t have.”

Toney never misses an opportunity to hit back at Giants fans who are angry at how little he has accomplished in less than two full seasons with the team.

Just eight months ago, Toney gave a Giants fan the middle finger while getting his Super Bowl LVII ring sized.

It’s hard to take him at face value when he says he’s not going to draw any extra motivation into the Super Bowl by trying to prove the Giants were wrong to trade him.

“That’s all over now,” Tony said. “That’s immature.”

There is no guarantee that Toney will be available for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Even after an incredible fourth quarter in last year’s championship game against the 49ers, in which he scored a 5-yard go-ahead touchdown pass and a 65-yard punt return for another touchdown. Eagles.

“It’s not my phone,” Tony said Monday night. “I’m very confident, but ultimately you have to trust the coaching staff.”

Last week, the trust was in need of some repairs.

Toney said he told “everyone” about the video, including head coach Andy Reid. He was also angry that the birth of his daughter was leaked to the media after he was listed on the injury report for “personal reasons”.

“Actually, I’m not here to talk about that,” Tony said. “I’m a grown man. I can understand what I said and what was going on. Miscommunication, you could say.”

Asked by the Post about his chances of making it to the Super Bowl, Toney said, “Fine. I’ve cleared that. So why are you asking me here?”

Because the last time anyone other than the Chiefs saw the injury-prone Toney play, he was the X-factor that made a difference.

But anyone who follows the Chiefs closely knows that this season, he hasn’t regained his form from last season, with just 27 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown, and like other receivers, he suffered from drops. I know that

Toney calls last year’s Super Bowl a “great moment” in his career, but wants to look forward as he “tryes not to think about the old things.”

“Fact: If the opportunity presents itself, I’m ready to execute,” Tony said. “A humble approach”
