Kai Trump Prepares for College Golf Amid Unique Challenges
Kai Trump is navigating the final stretch of his high school experience, getting ready to play golf at the University of Miami.
At 18, naturally, he’s experiencing dating, but having the Secret Service around can make those moments a bit “awkward.”
On a recent episode of Logan Paul’s podcast, President Trump shed some light on the dating dynamics for his granddaughter, who has a security team shadowing her.
“Honestly, it’s really awkward to go on a date,” she said. “I mean, they’re like two tables behind you. It’s kind of weird.”
Despite the unusual circumstances, Kai is striving to lead a regular life. “What I’m focused on is trying not to let it get to me. Over the past year, I’ve learned that they’re following me, but I have to pretend they’re not there. It helps to concentrate on enjoying time with friends and family.”
Reflecting on the initial months of her grandfather’s second term, she mentioned those times were challenging. “It was tough having someone with me all the time, always planning my outings. At one point, I realized, ‘Their only job is to protect me.’ So, I decided to focus on myself and let them do their work.” This shift in perspective made things a lot more manageable.
President Trump humorously noted that the Secret Service was right behind him at college parties. “They can’t prevent anything. Their only role is to keep me safe. It doesn’t matter what others are doing; they can’t intervene unless there’s a threat to my safety.”
Kai plans to graduate high school this year and is excited about starting his college golf journey come fall.
