Kai Trump Undergoes Wrist Surgery

Kai Trump recently had wrist surgery due to a golf-related injury. The 19-year-old, who is President Trump’s eldest grandchild, shared the news on Instagram, stating that the operation was successful. In her post, she included a selfie from her hospital bed, revealing her left arm in a cast and sling.

She mentioned in her update that she is a competitive golfer on the University of Miami Women’s Golf team and had to undergo this surgery to address a wrist injury she incurred during her first tournament of the season.

“I had really hoped to avoid surgery, but after discussing it with my family, coaches, and athletic trainers, I believe this was the best choice for my long-term health and my future in the sport that I love,” she explained.

It’s certainly not how I envisioned the upcoming months. But, you know, sometimes things don’t go as planned. I’m attempting to approach this challenge with a lot of patience and determination.

She acknowledged that recovery would take time, but expressed gratitude for the “amazing people” surrounding her who support and encourage her—reminding her that every challenge is actually an opportunity for growth.

“Having the right support system is really crucial, and I couldn’t feel more thankful for it,” she remarked.

Kai also took a moment to thank her medical team at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where she received treatment. “A huge thank you to Dr. Carlson and the amazing staff at HSS for their care, along with my teammates, coaches, family, and everyone who has lent their support,” she said.

Right now, Kai is focused on healing and trusting the recovery process. She expressed her eagerness to return to her team and continues to believe positively, saying, “I’ll be back before you know it—stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!”

Earlier this year, she had also undergone wrist surgery and, during an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” opened up about being a bit nervous about starting her freshman year and her Division 1 golf career at the University of Miami.

“I’m definitely feeling a little nervous, to be honest, but I’m ready for this next chapter,” she shared, noting that she doesn’t live too far from her siblings—just an hour and a half away.

When discussing her competitive drive, she attributed it partly to her family, especially her mother and grandfather. “My mom’s really competitive—definitely runs in the family,” she noted.
