Kai Trump Undergoes Wrist Surgery
Kai Trump, a freshman at the University of Miami and a member of the Canes’ women’s golf team, announced she had surgery for a wrist injury she suffered back in September. She shared this news via an Instagram post on Wednesday.
The daughter of former model Vanessa Trump and businessman Donald Trump Jr. posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed with her arm bandaged and in a sling at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
“I had hoped to avoid surgery, but after discussions with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff, I believe this was the best choice for my long-term health and my future in the sport I love,” Kai, who is 19, explained. “It’s definitely not how I pictured the upcoming months, but sometimes life takes surprising turns, and I’m trying to approach this one with patience and a lot of determination.”
“Recovery will take time, but I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by wonderful people who lift me up and motivate me. Every challenge, I feel, is an opportunity to grow. The right support truly makes a difference, and I can’t express my gratitude enough,” she added.
Kai, who injured her wrist during her first college tournament, expressed thanks to Dr. Carlson and the team at HSS, along with her teammates, coaches, and family.
“For now, it’s about healing and trusting the process,” she continued. “I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll return before you know it, stronger and more thankful than ever! Go Canes!”
Kai did not specify a timeline for her recovery.
Recently, she participated in a three-round tournament held over two days in Muncie, Indiana.
Kai previously mentioned she had surgery on her left wrist in January to address injuries related to the stabilizing tissues of her ECU tendon and damage to her triangular fibrocartilage complex.
