Kai Trump at the Masters: A Unique Experience
This week, amateur golfer Kai Trump had the chance to attend one of the biggest events in golf. He visited the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club, where the best golfers in the world were vying for the famous Masters green jacket.
However, it was noted that his grandfather, former President Donald Trump, was fully aware that Tiger Woods, a five-time Masters champion, would not be participating this year. Woods faced legal troubles after a rollover accident in Florida and subsequently announced he wouldn’t compete. Court records indicate that he was permitted to leave the U.S. to enter a treatment facility.
In an interesting twist, Trump’s mother, Vanessa, had publicly supported Woods following his DUI arrest by posting a heartfelt message on social media.
Kai, who is 18, shared some highlights from his visit on Instagram, including a moment captured with LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau and his caddy, Greg Bodine. He expressed his admiration for Augusta, commenting on how special it is and mentioning his intent to advance his golf career in Miami.
Meanwhile, concerning Woods, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported that his vehicle was moving at a “high rate of speed” before it crashed. Signs of impairment were noted, yet Woods recorded a “triple zero” on the breathalyzer and declined a urine test. Authorities conducted several tests on-site, considering his previous injuries and surgeries.
Woods has pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge. Prior to his arrest, he had hinted that he might play in the majors for the first time this season.
Since claiming the green jacket in 2019, he hasn’t placed in the top 20 for 14 consecutive majors, marking his longest streak without a top-20 finish since his early career days in the mid-90s. In fact, his performance has dwindled since a tied ninth at the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open, with a best finish of tied for 37th at that year’s PGA Championship.
Woods hasn’t played professionally since 2024, where he had limited appearance in tournaments, including a last-place finish at the Masters.
