‘Kamala a Failure at the Border,’ Says Rep. Tony Gonzales

U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) said Vice President Kamala Harris cannot get away with the Biden-Harris administration’s failed border policies. Gonzales’ comments were made in an exclusive interview with Breitbart Texas.

Despite the vice president’s recent attempts to distance himself from the title of border secretary and a complicit mainstream media, Gonzalez says no amount of media coverage can change the devastating impact of failed border policy across the US, particularly in the border states of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California.

“I saw what she did on the border as vice president and it was nothing,” the Texas congressman said. “I don’t want to see what she’ll do if she becomes president. It’s going to be much worse.”

Rep. Gonzales, whose district includes 800 miles of the border with Mexico – nearly two-thirds of the Texas border – said it’s a waste of campaign time to debate whether Vice President Harris is a border czar.

“It doesn’t matter if you call her a border czar,” he explained. “She can’t get away with the failed border policies that this administration has implemented that have led to the deaths of Americans.” Gonzalez added that Harris once called El Paso’s porous southwest border “the new Ellis Island.”

According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), nearly 1.4 million migrants have been apprehended by the Border Patrol at the Southwest border since October. Gonzalez said that total doesn’t include the hundreds of thousands of migrants who have evaded Border Patrol apprehension this year, nor does it include the hundreds of thousands of migrants who have been allowed into the country at land border ports and airports under the administration’s CBP-One application and the humanitarian parole program that Congress failed to approve.

Gonzalez said the Biden-Harris administration needs to get a clear count of the number of migrants entering along the southwest border and make sure to disclose to the American public the total number of migrants admitted at ports of entry through various parole programs.

According to the CBP, Border Patrol apprehended more immigrants during the first three years of the Biden-Harris administration than any annual total since the administration took office in 1924.

Rep. Gonzalez warned of the importance of reminding the public of the vice president’s failure to lead border security over the past three years. “We need to remind the public of the failed policies of the Biden-Harris Administration and how President Trump and the Republican-led Congress are not making America better,” he added.
Regarding the importance of advocating for improved border security policies as the election approaches, Gonzalez told Breitbart Texas, “The election isn’t about winning in July, it’s about winning in November. Republicans are going to put up a fight, and we better be prepared.”
