Vice President Kamala Harris' spokesman Ian Sams told Axios on Sunday that President Joe Biden remains mentally healthy to serve as commander in chief.
The 80-year-old withdrew from the 2024 presidential race in July under pressure from Democrats following a disastrous debate performance in which he appeared to convey slurred and vague ideas.
“Of course,” Sams told Axios. Alex Thompson when asked if Harris could give voters “absolute assurance” about Biden's “hour-to-hour performance.”
Harris has continued to defend Biden's health, leading to criticism that she covered up Biden's health prior to the debate.

A Harvard-Harris University poll in December found that about a third of Democrats doubted Biden's mental health. Another poll revealed that 82 percent of Americans were concerned about his physical and mental health.
Biden has largely stayed away from public life since leaving office. He has rarely given interviews and only occasionally takes questions outside the White House before or after a flight.
When people take one look at the president, they can see that his cognitive abilities are in poor condition. Biden appeared perplexed Thursday when asked by a reporter about relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Helen in North Carolina. “Based on what we saw today, what do storm zone states need?”
“Oh, a storm system? I didn't know what storm you were talking about,” Biden replied.
