Kamala Harris Falsely Claims Guns Are No.1 Killer of Children

Claim: On Thursday night, while introducing executive action to tighten gun control, Vice President Kamala Harris (D) insisted that guns are the No. 1 killer of children.

verdict: error.

President Joe Biden first made this claim on June 2, 2022. Breitbart News pointed out that it was false then and is false now, despite being repeated ad nauseam by numerous left-wing and Democratic politicians in Hollywood.

When Biden first made his point, he said, “Guns are the number one killer of children.”

His claim is the same claim that Harris is currently making, but it's only true if you count 18- and 19-year-olds as children.

May 26, 2022, FOX News noticed According to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were a total of 4,368 firearm-related deaths among people ages 0 to 19 in 2020, compared to a total of 4,036 motor vehicle deaths in the same age group.

But when Breitbart News did a custom search of the CDC numbers and limited the category of “children” to people ages 0 to 17, or under voting age, the data completely reversed.

The number of firearm-related deaths among children aged 0 to 17 is 2,281 In 2020, the number of car deaths for the same age group will be 2,503.

While conducting an investigation, Breitbart News pointed out that even in the expanded age range of 0 to 19, CDC numbers show that: Accidental car accident 27 times higher than Firearm-related accidental death.

This claim was false when Biden made it in 2022, and it is also false when Harris makes it now.
