From the sidewalks of Oakland to the halls of the White House, Kamala Harris’ story is what dreams are made of…the American Dream. There is no other place like America where the daughter of immigrants can shatter glass ceilings and reach the highest office in the country. Only in America.
Of course, she had plenty of examples of what was possible: her mother had come to the US from India at just 19 years old and become a renowned biologist; her father was from Jamaica, studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and became a renowned economist and professor at Stanford. So her parents raised her not just to know what is and what has been, but to imagine what is possible – to imagine not who we are, but who we can become.
It worked because she was passionate about the possibilities. She went on to Vanier College in Montreal, Howard University and the University of California, San Francisco, School of Law. That drove her to organize for justice, prosecuting murderers and rapists as the district attorney’s chief criminal investigator, and eventually becoming San Francisco’s district attorney, then attorney general, senator and vice president.
It’s official: Vice President Kamala Harris wins Democratic presidential nomination
It gave her the moral clarity to take on big banks that paid for their wrongdoing by foreclosing on working families’ homes, it gave her the strength to fight for students and veterans taken advantage of by for-profit education companies, and it gave her the tools to win, bringing rent relief and badly needed resources to low-income communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing student loan relief to countless Americans, and creating millions of new jobs.
From campaign calls to rallies to local volunteers going door-to-door on Saturday mornings, we’re seeing people paying attention across this country like we’ve never seen before. This is unprecedented. This is historic.
Now, her time has come and she is catapulted into history. No one deserves it more than she does. Yes, we recognize that politics is a contact sport and we know the attacks are coming. In fact, the attacks are already coming.
But we also recognize that many of those who don a different jersey than us continue to play the same old theatrics of racism, bigotry, misogyny, ignorance, and hatred. From birtherism 2.0 to dismissing the VP as a DEI hire to purposely mispronouncing her name while claiming she has “gone black,” it’s clear that their voices are only getting louder and more pathological as we approach history.
2024 cash dash: Harris surpasses Trump in latest fundraising total
No problem. The contrast is easy to see, so you can take the picture.
This is not just about prosecutors versus criminals, or undeniable truth versus a barrage of lies. It’s about progressivism versus extremism. It’s about who we can become.
Think of all the groundbreaking legislation that Vice President Harris has passed through Congress and signed into law. Think of all the executive orders she has worked to get done — raising the wage, fighting climate change, protecting reproductive freedom — and compare that to four years of poverty and degradation we’ve experienced under the Administration of Donald J. Trump.
One of those five Democrats could be Harris’ running mate.
Of course, elections are about predicting the future, so compare that to former President Donald Trump’s all-but-public endorsement of a plan put forward in 2010. Project 2025 President Harris signed a truly bipartisan border security bill into law, protected women’s right to control their own bodies and make their own health decisions, extended the child tax credit that cut child poverty in half, and expanded the more than 15 million jobs she has already helped create.
Compare President Trump’s plan to declare martial law to President Harris’ plan to strengthen the middle class, grow small businesses, expand health insurance, keep medical debt off credit reports, and avoid raising taxes on Americans making less than $400,000 a year.
Harris said affordable internet is Must Not to the benefit of all Americans, MAGA Republicans are refusing to fund the Affordable Connectivity Program. While they scream about an imaginary crisis, we’re talking about raising wages, closing the wealth gap, lowering child care costs, not going bankrupt when you get sick, etc.
That’s just one example of the differences.

Simply put, Vice President Harris is a once-in-a-generation candidate who has generated more power and energy in this country than Duke Power. It’s been less than a month since she announced her candidacy for president, and she’s already unifying the Democratic base, expanding the coalition, widening the map, and short-circuiting the Republican Party.
In less than two weeks, Vice President Harris recruited nearly 200,000 volunteers, launched a national grassroots organization, won the Democratic nomination and raised $310 million — double what President Trump raised in all of July.

Vice President Kamala Harris is a once-in-a-generation candidate, and this is a once-in-a-generation moment for America. The choice is clear. Do we choose truth or lies? Do we choose hope or hate? Do we choose the future or are we doomed to repeat the past?
Well, as the Vice President says, we’re not going back.
