Vice President Harris is still soliciting cash from Democratic donors weeks after her landslide election loss, which critics say is causing supporters to abandon spending.
“As President Trump appoints MAGA supporters left and right, nothing is more important than making sure we can fight back and hold him accountable,” the Post said in a statement from Election Day. An email from Kamala's headquarters, received three weeks later, said: “That's why we need you to step up today. Yes, today.”
“Our records show that you have not yet cooperated in supporting our Harris Fight Fund program,” the emissary chided. “We know the election did not go as expected, but we will not back down.”
Harris raised $1.5 billion and spent it all in just 15 weeks, ending her campaign with about $20 million in debt. Insiders told Politico —The Harris campaign denied this claim.
Party poorers said the incessant begging was sending a wrong message and alienating voters.
“It's especially frustrating to receive fundraising requests after a candidate loses, spends more than $1 billion, and admits they still owe millions,” said Democratic strategist John. Reinisch told the Post.
“When I was asked by the Harris campaign to do another pony up. Quietly, to be honest, I thought it was insulting.”
This issue is likely to be a major concern for the next Democratic National Committee chairman, who will become the de facto leader of the party after President Biden leaves office.
That election is scheduled for February 1st. Leading candidates so far include Ken Martin, leader of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, and Martin O'Malley, former Maryland governor and former Democratic presidential candidate.
A complete autopsy of Kamala's campaign must be a top priority no matter who is chosen next to lead the party, James Carville, a longtime Democratic Party insider, told the Post.

“A lot of people have questions, and there should probably be some sort of audit,” Carville said, focusing on “more granular, more detailed” spending decisions that go far beyond the Federal Election Commission's spending disclosures. He added that it is necessary to make efforts to
In the weeks since her defeat, Ms. Harris' prodigal spending has raised eyebrows in Democratic circles.
Among the more notable spending was Oprah's $1 million to Harpo Productions. $900,000 for advertising on outdoor screens at the Las Vegas Globe. $500,000 for Al Sharpton's National Action Network and millions more for private jets and luxury hotels.
More than $500 million went to just four well-connected Democratic media consulting shops, records and reports show.
Harris' funding emails make no mention of her spending or the election committee's alleged financial difficulties.
“People will want to know which vendors got how much money and what they did with it,” Carville said. “When a plane crash happens, people don't say let's look forward instead of looking back. Find out if the world's greatest teacher is wrong.
