Soviet-style centrally controlled food and grocery price controls will be part of a federal economic proposal that US Vice President Kamala Harris will unveil when she finally outlines her 2024 policy on Friday.

The Democratic candidate has pledged to impose the first nationwide ban on price gouging and fixing within his first 100 days in office, seeking to reverse many voters’ poor assessment of President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy.
