The poll, conducted June 18-24, 2024, showed Trump leading Biden 46 percent to 44 percent, with a further 10 percent undecided. Obviously, a lot has happened since then.

After nearly being assassinated, Trump picked Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate at a spirited Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During that same polling interval, Democratic Party officials, donors and Hollywood elites removed Biden as the presumptive favorite after his dismal debate performances endangered not only his own reelection but those of lower-ranking Democrats as well. The left and the media touted Harris.
In other words, the poll shows Democrats are back to where they were before the debates, when Biden’s campaign invited the president to debate in June — an unprecedented move for a sitting president and a sign of just how dire their prospects were at the time.
In this latest poll, 38% of Trump supporters say they will definitely support Trump, 6% say they will probably support Trump, and another 3% say they will lean toward Trump. Similarly, 38% of Harris supporters say they will definitely vote for Harris, 4% say they will probably support Harris, and 3% say they will lean toward Harris.
Trump and Harris are neck and neck among independents, at 41 percent and 40 percent, respectively. Just under one in five independents are undecided.
Trump maintains an advantage over Harris among more established candidates, including independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The 45th president has 42% approval rating, compared to Harris’ 41%. Kennedy garners 8% of the vote, while Libertarian Chase Oliver, Green Party’s Jill Stein and independent Cornel West are tied at 1%.
The results for the larger field are consistent with a June poll by McLaughlin & Associates, though Trump’s lead has since narrowed by just one percentage point. Trump received 39% of the vote, Biden 37% and Kennedy 10%. West and Stein were tied at 2%, Oliver 1% and 9% were undecided.
The latest survey was conducted from July 23 to 29, 2024. No margin of error was specified.
