Kamala Harris Turns Question on Secret Service into Attack on Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris turned a question about the Secret Service into an attack on former President Donald Trump during an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) on Tuesday.

Harris had earlier said she had spoken to President Trump that morning and expressed her opposition to political violence.

A reporter then asked her if she personally felt safe in light of the Secret Service's failures.

She said, but then continued.

Just go back to Ohio. Not everybody has the Secret Service. And there are too many people in this country right now who don't feel safe. You look at Project 2025, you look at the “Don't Say Gay” law that went into effect in Florida. [sic]Members of the LGBTQ community don't feel safe right now. Immigrants, or people with immigrant backgrounds, don't feel safe right now. Women don't feel safe right now. So, yes, I feel safe, and I have Secret Service protection, but that doesn't change how I feel about the importance of fighting for the safety of everyone who lives in this country.

Florida does not have a “don't say gay” law, but it does have a new law that removes all sexual content from early elementary school education.

The “Ohio” reference rekindled Harris's remarks alleging that Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), were involved in threats against Haitian immigrants in Springfield. (Republican Gov. Mike DeWine has said the story about pets being eaten was false, but the bomb threat was a hoax from overseas.)

Harris also falsely claimed she was at the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the building.

Harris and the White House have refused to stop calling Trump a “threat” despite two assassination attempts.
