Vice President Kamala Harris has begun reviewing a list of potential running mates for the 2024 presidential election, according to a source familiar with the campaign.
The presumptive Democratic nominee is rushing to officially certify his campaign after President Biden left office on Sunday afternoon.
According to anonymous sources who spoke to The Associated Press, Harris’ team has requested information on about a dozen individuals.

Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Gov. Roy Cooper of North Carolina are some of the most talked-about Democratic vice presidential candidates.
Her selection will determine the direction of the presidential campaign, which launched with a last-minute endorsement of Biden following his sudden and unexpected withdrawal from the race.

The campaign of former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for 2024 presidential election, has dismissed the idea of Harris being ultimately named as vice presidential candidate as immaterial.
“There are only a limited number of candidates for governor and senator. They’re all replaceable,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Chang told reporters on Wednesday. “That’s not an issue.”
Many prominent Democrats are aligned with Harris, who has received endorsements from the Clintons, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

A new national poll, conducted after Biden announced he was suspending his campaign and endorsing his vice presidential nomination, shows Harris and Trump in a very close race.
Trump, who was officially nominated last week as the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential candidate, has the support of 46% of registered voters in an NPR/PBS News/Marist poll.
Harris, who said Monday night that she had secured the Democratic nomination thanks to verbal commitments from delegates at next month’s Democratic National Convention, had 45% approval rating — Trump’s 1-point lead was within the survey’s sampling error — and 9% of respondents were undecided.
