CNN political analyst Van Jones said on “The Situation Room” Thursday that “Kamala mania” is happening in the 2024 presidential election because people are excited about Kamala Harris.
When asked about fundraising, Jones said, “Kamala mania, Kamala mania. Just energy, energy, energy. The majority of donors are first-time donors to this election, they’ve never donated to Biden or anybody. People are excited about Kamala Harris. And it’s showing up in the numbers, it’s showing up in the polls. There’s been a huge change in the energy, momentum and enthusiasm for Kamala Harris in the last two weeks.”
He added, “She hasn’t had a chance to debate Trump yet, so who knows what the future holds, but where she is now, sometimes the person makes the moment and sometimes the moment makes the person. This was a moment of longing for some kind of breakthrough, some kind of hope.”
Jones added, “Most Americans didn’t want Trump or Biden. After the debate, democracy was on the verge of death. Democrats were looking at it like, ‘Oh my goodness, is democracy going to survive after this election?’ But then Kamala Harris put her hand up and said, ‘I’ll handle it,’ and there was a ray of hope. There was an outpouring of energy. I think that momentum is going to continue for a while.”
