24-Year-Old Kansas Man Arrested for Threats Against President Trump

Authorities have taken a 24-year-old man from Kansas into federal custody after he allegedly threatened to kill President Donald Trump via Facebook.

Jaden J. Read was reported to law enforcement following charges from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas for making threats against the president, as detailed in a press release from the Justice Department.

In his posts, Read purportedly mentioned he knew the exact location where Trump would be speaking during a visit to the Wichita area. He allegedly wrote, “IK where your speech will be. Already mapped out roofs around. Finna get kirked since yall couldn’t help him,” referencing a notorious saying linked to left-wingers expressing a desire for violence against conservatives.

A tip received by Crime Stoppers on Thursday drew attention to Read’s remarks which were made in response to a Facebook post about Trump’s upcoming trip.

“Let’s shoot Trump honestly, where’s our shooter? I’m tired of living this money life,” was among the threatening comments attributed to him. He reportedly added, “I just got a .308 and .305 round and I’m killing this pedo.”

Further, under another post connected to KWCH 12 News, Read is said to have made another comment, “Can we shoot him in Kansas please I will myself,” about a minute after his initial remark.

This incident follows an attempted assassination on Trump in July 2024 when a man named Thomas Crooks shot and injured then-candidate Trump from a rooftop in Pennsylvania. There was also an incident involving Charlie Kirk, shot from a rooftop at a university in September 2025.

The charges against Read were filed on Saturday, and he was taken into custody that same day in Clearwater. He will remain detained pending a hearing, though no date for that hearing has been publicly announced.

If convicted, Read could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison according to federal law concerning threats against the president.

The investigation involved various agencies including the Secret Service, U.S. Marshals Service, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Kansas Highway Patrol, and the Wichita Police Department.

As for Trump, he proceeded with his planned event on Monday at Heartland Credit Union Arena in Park City, which is located just north of Wichita.

U.S. Attorney Ryan Kriegshauser emphasized the seriousness of threats against political figures, stating, “Political violence and threats of political violence will not be tolerated.” He pointed out that while the First Amendment allows for strong disagreements, it’s important for individuals to stay within lawful limits of speech.

As of now, neither the Secret Service nor the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has commented on this matter, nor has Read’s attorney provided any statements regarding the situation.
