President-elect Trump has nominated Kari Lake to be the next director of the state-run US government broadcaster Voice of America.
“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will be the next director of Voice of America. She will be appointed by, and will work closely with, the soon-to-be-announced next Director of the U.S. Agency for Global Media. . We will ensure that American values of freedom and liberty are broadcast fairly and accurately around the world, unlike the lies spread by the fake news media,” President Trump said in a statement Wednesday night. .
Lake, a longtime broadcaster in Arizona, ran unsuccessfully for public office in 2022 and 2024.
Voice of America is an influential broadcast channel providing news, information and cultural programming across the internet, mobile, social media, radio and television.
The station broadcasts in over 40 languages.
