Social media users criticized presidential press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday for suggesting that a viral video showing illegal immigrants rushing the Texas National Guard at the southern border should be a concern for Gov. Greg Abbott, not President Biden. denounced.

Asked whether Biden had seen or commented on the “dramatic” video of the migrant surge, Jean-Pierre said: “I mean, I haven’t talked to the president about that video. That’s all I can say.” , I really believe that’s a question for the Republican governor of Texas. ”

“This is something the president should be working on and really talking about,” she continued, adding, “As I said earlier, the president has been working with Congress in the Senate to pass immigration legislation. We are dealing with the border issues before us right now.”

She added, “And then there’s the governor of Texas who continues to politicize this.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said footage of illegal immigrants rushing the Texas National Guard at the border was a concern of Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, not President Biden.

Mr. Pierre’s condemnation of Mr. Abbott was controversial for critics who see Mr. Biden as having done little to secure the southern border during his first term. During that time, more than 7 million illegal immigrants have attempted to enter the country.

“We learned that KJP has repeatedly sued the Texas governor to prevent her boss, the president, from speaking out on this issue,” Republican communications guru Matt Whitlock said. I’m not entirely sure if that’s the case,” he said.

FOX News contributor Katie Pavlich criticized Jean-Pierre, writing, “Unbelievable. The President of the United States’ press secretary won’t comment on the blatant violation of sovereignty at our border.”

Twitch’s Doug Powers condemned the statement, saying, “‘It’s not the president’s fault that America’s borders are violated, it’s the Republican governor’s fault’ — and now I’ve seen and heard it all. It pales in the face. That’s right.”

TownHall.com web editor Rebecca Downs responded, “The Republican governor has done everything and then some to protect the people of his state!!!”

“I simply cannot believe that the Biden administration would continue to do this,” said political commentator and Canary CEO Dan Everhart. “No one will ever think it’s their fault. Biden’s horrible policies and inaction are 100% to blame.” ”

Former Republican Rep. Scott Taylor of Virginia called the official’s words “an abdication of duty to the American people.”

Tommy Piggott, RNC Research’s director of strategic communications, corrected Jean-Pierre’s statement and said, “This is actually a question for Joe Biden. He created the crisis with his policies and refuses to reverse his policies and end the crisis.” He is stepping up executive action and actively weakening border security. ”
