White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Indignant This came after Fox News reporter Peter Doocy challenged her about comments she made following the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
“That's also very dangerous.”
Doocy pointed to comments Jean-Pierre made during a press conference on Tuesday in which he described Trump as a “threat.”
“It's only been two days since someone allegedly tried to kill Donald Trump again, and yet you stand at the podium in the White House briefing room and call Trump a 'threat.' How many more assassination attempts will there be against Donald Trump before the President, the Vice President and you describe Trump with something other than a 'threat?'” Doocy asked.
Jean-Pierre seemed annoyed and angry during his response.
“Peter, I simply don't agree with the premise of the question being asked by this administration. The question you're asking and the way you're asking it are incredibly dangerous,” she responded.
“From an administration that has consistently condemned political violence while the American people are watching, from an administration where the president called the former president and thanked him that he was safe, from an administration that condemned the attack on House Speaker Paul Pelosi on Jan. 6 and called for de-escalating tensions after the Butler incident, and now to make such a comment in your question, because your question contained comments and statements,” Jean-Pierre continued.
“And it's also very dangerous,” she added. “We've been very clear from here on out that we condemn political violence.”
She went on to recount the events and comments that led to the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol, including comments made by then-President Donald Trump.
Doocy questioned whether anyone was taking his words literally, to which Jean-Pierre responded by repeatedly saying “January 6th.”
A second attempt to assassinate President Trump was thwarted on Sunday with the arrest of an allegedly armed man hiding in bushes outside the Trump International Golf Course. The suspect was identified as Ryan Routh and has a significant digital footprint with ties to left-wing movements.
